Professional Learning
Educators who possess higher order teaching skills and deep content knowledge, are better able to mold young people to effectively collaborate, communicate and grow academically. According to Stephanie Hirsh in Creating Effective Professional Learning Systems to Bolster Teaching Quality and Student Achievement, support must come from the school systems as well as state departments of education and professional learning should be planned frequently and organized to engage all teachers. To meet this goal, a teacher must be on the look out for professional development opportunities for self improvement and personal growth as well as opportunities provided and mandated by the district and state.
